Teaching Golf: Evergreen Golf Centre's Philosophy - Lethbridge, Alberta

The Evergreen Golf Centre Teaching Philosophy:

Golf is a leg’s game, not an arm’s game.

There are a few fundamentals such as grip, stance and posture that are key in the golf swing. They are key to allow for the correct impact position.

The correct impact position requires that the lower body clears so that the hands and arms can be pulled through each time without manipulation. A poor grip and a faulty set up will not allow for a sound impact position and therefore a successful shot will be difficult to achieve.

The basis for all teachings at Evergreen connects to Impact. Chipping and pitching all mirror similar full swing principles. Consider the following swing tip and how it relates to the Evergreen Golf teaching Philosophy:

The reason that most people slice the golf ball is because they use their upper body to power the golf swing.

Try this simple drill: (A) stand with your legs together knees touching, and swing.

(B) Concentrate on turning your shoulders to the top of the backswing, and fire/clear or turn your hips to finish the golf swing.

(C) After you lose your balance a few times, this drill will teach you perfect balance and timing of the golf swing.

Eventually when you play golf and when you are standing over the ball ready to swing the club, say these two words. Shoulders (for the backswing) and legs (clearing on the downswing) and you will get used to the correct sequence of the golf swing and the slice may be gone forever.
